Providing Care to Patients in Medically Underserved or Remote Areas
Patients need only a smartphone, tablet or computer with a webcam that has an Internet connection to interact with their clinician. Patients create or are given an account on the Virtual Visit patient portal and then are able to access the portal to reach their healthcare provider.
The portal allows patients to access their telehealth medical record, schedule medical appointments and upload electronic documents, reports, photos of rashes, wounds or other relevant images. Rather than having to wait days or weeks to schedule a face-to-face appointment at a doctor's office, and then take the time to travel to and from that location, a videoconference can be scheduled within minutes or hours, and patients can have their visit from wherever they choose – home, work, or other convenient locations.
